Combustion engine with a two-part crankshaft housing for accommodating the cylinder blocks in horizontally opposed arrangement, in which the parts of the crankshaft housing are braced against one another by means of continuous stays and the stays have threaded sections at both ends for the engagement with bracing nuts. In a first crankshaft housing part unthreaded through holes are provided and in a second crankshaft housing part through holes with threaded sections on areas adjacent to the first crankshaft housing part are provided, the stays (3, 4) in the area assigned to the first crankshaft housing part (1) and in the area assigned to the second crankshaft housing part (2) having the same shaft diameter and the shaft area assigned to the second crankshaft housing part (2) being provided with external thread (15) and having a longitudinal slot (14) in the area of the oil feed duct (13). <IMAGE>
