The invention relates to a method and a heat exchanger for operating a high-pressure steam boiler, in particular for dry cleaners, laundries or the like, with consumers which are connected to a high-pressure steam boiler and the condensate of which is returned to a condensate container, from which feed water is supplied to the steam boiler by means of a feed water pump. According to the invention, the condensate is supplied to a heat exchanger before the condensate container, the feed water is pumped to the heat exchanger, guided helically in the heat exchanger and conducted back into the steam boiler from the heat exchanger. By this heating of the feed water, the heat contained in the condensate is harnessed, so that savings in the fuel-oil requirement of the steam boiler of up to in excess of 30% result. The invention relates to a heat exchanger with container (8), connections of a condensate pipe (4) which open in the cover (17), a feed water supply pipe (6), a feed water removal pipe (9) and a condensate pipe (10). Between feed water supply pipe (6) and feed water removal pipe (8), there is arranged a feed water spiral (11) which extends over the height of the container (8), the feed water supply pipe (6) extending to the lowest point of the feed water spiral (11) and the feed water removal pipe (9) starting from the highest point of the feed water spiral (11). <IMAGE> |
