The mobile ship unloader for the continuous removal of bulk material is provided with a continuous conveying belt and a bucket-chain apparatus arranged at its base end and intended for receiving the bulk material. The bucket-chain apparatus comprises an essentially horizontally arranged, endless bucket chain (1) which is run via a horizontal digging section (8) with two bottom deflection wheels (2, 3) each arranged in pairs on either side on an axle and via an inclined conveying section (12) with drive wheels (4) to top deflection wheels (6), attached above the horizontal section (8), of the returning bucket-chain strand and also via supporting rollers (5) which are mounted in a lattice-like supporting frame (7). A part of the horizontal digging section (8) of the supporting frame (7) is designed to be pivotable from a horizontal position A up into a vertical position B. <IMAGE>
