The upper cabinet has an insert basket which is guided in grooves in the housing part of the upper cabinet and can be lowered vertically by means of a motor-driven transport spindle (26). On its underside, the insert basket (2) is provided with a spring-mounted plate (32) which cooperates with limit switches (33, 34) for the drive motor (9). In a further development of an upper cabinet as part of a wall cabinet which is suitable as a filing cabinet, the upper cabinet can be moved forwards on horizontal guide rails (47, 48) perpendicular to the wall by at least the depth of the wall cabinet, and the insert basket is then lowered in the moved-forward state of the upper cabinet. <IMAGE>
