A rack for carrying bicycles on e.g. the roofs of cars etc. comprises a rod (1) connected by e.g. clamps (6,8) to transverse supports (2). An intermediate section of the rod carries a support (9) for the pedal crankcase of the bicycle whilst the front end of the rod (1) carries a transverse bar (13) incorporating a locking nut (14) over which the front forks of the bicycle locate. The rear end of the rod (1) carries a bracket (16) pref. incorporating two pairs of parallely spaced arms (18,19) which receive the front and rear wheels of the bicycle. The transverse bar (13) is pref. adjustable w.r.t. the rod (1) so that bicycle frames of different sizes can be accommodated.
