<p>The refilling point includes a hollow cylindrical body (1) which latches into an opening in the top surface (2) of the battery (3). A ring (4) seals this joint. The upper part of the body includes horizontal tubes (5,6) - for inlet and outlet of topping up water - both at the same level. A tube (12) extends down from this body, the lower end of which (14) defines the maximum level of electrolyte. The top is closed (7,8). Between the tube (12) and cylindrical outer body (1) there is a narrow passageway, allowing water from the inlet pipe to enter the battery itself via two openings (15,16). The arrangement may be used for automatically topping up a large number of batteries connected together.</p> |
