An in particular pneumatic linear drive for producing impulse-like rapid percussive motions. A piston (2) can reciprocate in a cylinder (1). Sitting on one side of the piston (2) is a piston rod (4) which is guided out of the facing end of the cylinder (1) and performs the percussive motion. A control valve (11) is connected between a pressure-medium source (10) and the working space (8) of the cylinder (1) remote from the piston rod (4). Depending on the valve position, pressure medium is admitted to the working space (8) or the same is vented via the control valve (11). Adjoining the working space (8) is a storage space (17) separated from the working space (8) by a dividing wall (7) and connected to the pressure-medium source (10). The control valve is arranged on the dividing wall (7), which contains passages (13, 14, 15), controlled by the control valve (11), for admitting pressure medium to the working space (8) from the storage space (17) and for venting the working space (8) to the outside. <IMAGE>
