A description is given of a device for connecting a brake lining carrier (23) to a brake lining by means of rivets (19), having a riveting tool (6) which is attached to the snap set (5), it being possible to move both of them perpendicularly to the brake lining carrier (23), and having a hold-down (10) which can be displaced parallel to the snap set (5) and which is connected to the snap set (5) during the working movement of the latter via a catch (8), allowing a relative movement between the snap set (5) and the hold-down (10) and via a spring element 18. A sleeve (14) attached to the hold-down (10), is parallel to the riveting tool (6). In order to improve such a device in such a way that it is possible to produce a satisfactory join between the brake lining and the brake lining carrier (23) as hitherto and that the pressing together of the brake lining carrier and the brake lining against the rivet (19) supported on the anvil can still be guaranteed, but that a simplified construction of the overall device is nevertheless possible, the invention provides that the catch (8) be mounted on the sleeve (14). It is advantageous if, preferably, the catch (8) is pushed through the sleeve (14) and through the snap set (5) and held non-positively in the latter. <IMAGE>
