PURPOSE:To reduce the decrease of thickness of a laminated separator when incorporated into a battery jar by pressure by keeping the ratio of the thickness of glass mats against the sum of thicknesses of separators and the glass mats within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A laminated separator for a lead storage battery is formed by laminating separators and glass mats so that the ratio of the thickness of the separators and glass mats is kept at 0.25-0.4. Accordingly, the laminated separator is inserted between a negative electrode and a positive electrode and firmly incorporated into a battery jar at a pressure of 20kg/dm<2>, thus the decrease of the thickness of the laminated separator can be kept extremely small after the formation treatment and the reduction of the battery life due to the loosening of the fixation of electrode groups can be prevented. |
