The invention relates to a device for separating carbon dioxide from the room air of hermetically sealed rooms, for example submarines. The room air is here passed through a scrubbing column, where an alkali solution absorbs the carbon dioxide. This alkali solution is then fed to a separation column, where the carbon dioxide is separated off by heating the alkali solution. The carbon dioxide-free alkali solution is pumped back to the scrubbing column in continuous circulation and the carbon dioxide is pumped out of the separation column for disposal. <IMAGE>
