The bridge crane with a grab which travels from a position above a ship to a position above a discharge conveyor enclosed in a tunnel to exclude dust, discharges the material into a hopper above the conveyor. The hopper has an upper chamber connected by a funnel section to the conveyor tunnel. The zone horizontally proceding the upper chamber acts as a sealing device, connected to the sealing structure for the chamber. The entrance to the zone has doors which open as the grab approaches. When the grab enters the zone, the doors close and inner doors open. When the grab is inside the chamber, the inner doors close, sealing the entry during discharge. In an alternative design, the hopper itself has top flaps which are synchronised with the entry of the grab. An auxiliary chamber is not included.
