Air jet loom comprises main picking nozzle and several auxiliary nozzles which are turned on simultaneously before the weft reaches the first auxiliary nozzle, and are then turned off in succession, after a predetermined time interval, in the order in which the weft passes them. Specifically the auxiliary nozzles are arranged as three successive groups which are switched on and of as groups, all groups being switched on simultaneously and switched off as groups in succession. Specifically the weft travels along an air guide channel defined by spaced guides of annular form with weft exit slits, weft catchers being located at the channel ends.
