In the case of an arrangement for converting harmful substances contained in non-flowing waters serving for the breeding, keeping and rearing of aquatic animals into non-harmful or only slightly harmful substances, which arrangement comprises an animal tank, a substance exchange tower and a water tank as well as a first pump line from the animal tank to the substance exchange tower and a second pump line from the water tank to the animal tank, in order to avoid the animal tank and/or the water tank being sucked empty or overflowing, it is proposed that the suction end (1) of the first pump line (2) be arranged at a level in the animal tank (3) below which there is a water depth sufficient for the animals to live and an adequate water volume, that the volume of the water tank (4) be at least equal, expediently greater than the volume of the animal tank (3) above the suction end (1) of the first pump line (2) and that the suction end (5) of the second pump line (6) be arranged at a level in the water tank (4) above which the volume of the water tank (4) corresponds to the volume of the animal tank (3) above the suction end (1) of the first pump line (2). <IMAGE>
