The invention relates to a device for damping the exit noise of highly compressed gases and, if appropriate, for reducing the exit brightness, especially in firearms. It is characterised by a muzzle-flash reducer (10) fixed to the firing tube (14) and in the form of a sleeve and by an outer sleeve (12) displaceable relative to said reducer and to the firing tube (14).
