The invention relates to an independent wheel suspension for vehicles, especially motor vehicles, with a wheel carrier on either side, an upper wheel suspension and a lower wheel suspension, the lower wheel suspension in each case being formed with a longitudinal suspension link and a transverse suspension link, which are fixed indirectly or directly to the wheel carrier and to the body. In order to prevent unwanted bump steering of the wheels and to create an easily adaptable and assemblable wheel suspension, the transverse suspension links are fixed to a common axle carrier by way of a horizontal swivel axis or bending axis running in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the axle carrier being flexibly pivoted on the body in the vehicle's longitudinal direction. The axle carrier is swivel-mounted on the body by way of two flexible bearings aligned in the transverse direction of the vehicle.
