PURPOSE:To produce paper or the like which is easy to handle and has excellent adsorptivity for a malodorous component such as NH3 by incorporating the particulate aluminum orthphosphate obtd. by bringing an aq. phosphoric acid soln. and hydroxide of aluminum, etc. into reaction, in paper, etc. in a dispersed state. CONSTITUTION:An aq. phosphoric acid soln. and hydroxide of aluminum such as gibbsite or the like and/or oxide of aluminum such as alpha-type alumina or the like are brought into reaction with each other in the presence of an org. solvent such as benzene which can form two phases with water and has about >=60 deg.C b.p. and the water formed by the reaction is removed by azeotropic distillation, whereby the fine particulate crystalline aluminum orthophosphate is obtd. Such aluminum orthophosphate is added to pulp slurry and is incorporated in paper at 0.2-75wt% in a dispersed state in the stage of forming the paper, whereby the paper or sheet material which adsorbs well a basic malodorous gaseous component such as NH3 or the like, is easy to handle and has clean feeling is obtd. |
