For mixing and reacting liquid components with liquid, gaseous and/or solid phases or components, loop reactors are frequently used. A very narrow residence time distribution of the individual components and good homogeneous mixing are obtained if the feeding and discharge of the component mixture takes place at spatially separated points within the mixing chamber, perpendicularly to the plane of the loop, so that the component mixture is forced to assume a spiral loop path perpendicularly to the plane of the loop.
