In order to provide a catheter which is not only easy to produce and handle, but in addition permits a satisfactory and complete removal of inclusions in a manner which does not pose a risk to the patient, according to the invention it is proposed that the front end of the tubular body (1) be provided with a spreading head (2), which has one or more cutting knives (6) which is/are made of highly elastic material and can be curved upwards by means of a tensioning wire (7) or the like extending in the tubular body (1), and at the rear end (10) of the tubular body (1) there is a grip (5). In order to ensure that vessel walls not affected by calcification do not come into contact with the rotating cutting knives, it is furthermore proposed that the spreading head (2) be equipped with an approximately strip-shaped protective shield made of highly elastic material and extending over a part of the periphery of the spreading head. In order to substantially prevent loss of blood, it is additionally proposed to arrange, on the tubular body (1) in its area before the cutting knives (6) and/or on the tensioning wire (7) in its area between the two parts of the separately designed tip (3) of the spreading head (2), a tubular piece of elastic material into whose overlapping areas there open one or more outlet openings of channels which pass through the walls of the tubular body (1) and/or of the tensioning wire (7) in their longitudinal direction. <IMAGE> |
