The invention relates to a device for the horizontal movement of cranes on fluid cushions in the rigged state with and without attached load. It can be used in jib cranes with supporting spars. The aim of the invention is to increase the utility value of the lifting appliances. The object is to attach horizontally movable supporting elements to the required support base. The object is achieved according to the invention by lifting cylinders with fluid platforms being arranged on the supporting spars, which lifting cylinders can be displaced on slideways by tension elements. The lifting cylinders can be actuated individually and serve to lift out the crane and compensate for level differences in the slideways. The lifting appliance performs a low-friction sliding movement due to the fluid cushions. The crane can be used in all jib cranes with supporting spars and is especially advantageous in the applications in which heavy loads are to be transported. <IMAGE>
