A process for removing acrylonitrile from a stream comprising acetonitrile, water and acrylonitrile involves contacting said stream with an amine selected from amines having the formular X-CH2-CH2-NHY, wherein X is a gp. selected from -OH, -NH2, -CH2-CH2-NH2 and -CH2CH2OH; Y is a gp. selected from -H, -CH2CH2OH, -CH2-CH2-NH2 and -Ch2CH2-NH-CH2CH2-NH2. The said amine is initially present in amts. sfficient to provide at least one amine gp. per mole of acrylonitrile. |
