<p>Aromatic hydrocarbons and a non-aromatic raffinate stream are recovered in high purity from a hyrocarbon charge stock by a process in which the hydrocarbon charge stock is treated with an aromatic-selective solvent to provide an aromatics-rich solvent stream (1) and a non-aromatic raffinate stream (27), the aromatics-rich solvent stream is treated in a stripper column (2) at conditions to separate substantially all of the non-aromatic hydrocarbons therefrom (7), the resulting rich solvent stream (12) is subjected to steam stripping (13) following by separation (17) to provide a high purity aromatics stream (19) and an aqueous stream (20) comprising the steam condensate and residual aromatics, this aqueous stream (20) is treated with a minor portion (28) of the non-aromatic raffinate (27) to remove the residual aromatics, the resulting aqueous stream (29) is utilized to wash the remainder of the raffinate (27) free of solvent, and the resulting raffinate stream (31) is recovered substantially free of aromatics.</p> |
