Chairs often have coupling elements which makes it possible to connect the single chair to similar chairs to form rows of chairs. The coupling elements 4, 5 are arranged at the bottom of the chair and form support parts for it, and each one has one or more such projecting shoulders 16-23 and depressions 8-15 to co- operate with corresponding depressions or shoulders on a corresponding coupling element of a corresponding chair, so that the coupling elements are entirely identical in shape. Such coupling elements thus form both the actual coupling element and a supporting piece for the chair, and they are at the same time easy to manipulate during the installation, since it is no longer necessary to make sure that the coupling element being installed has the proper shape. <IMAGE>
