The shock absorber is for the mast of a sail-board, comprising a shock-absorber incorporated in the rigging joint between the mast and the board. The element may comprise a spring, belleville springs, an elastomeric pad, or a gas strut, being mounted between two co-axial parts capable of relative movement. - One part may comprise a drilled block with a shoulder, being housed into the foot of the mast. The second may take the form of a flanged tube which slides into the block, the element fitting around the tube between the flange and the bottom face of the block. A long bolt with nuts and washer may secure the assembly, the block being equipped with an eyelet for a sail sheet.
