The invention relates to a system for recovering biogas from organic substances in at least one drum reactor, which is disposed in a vessel receiving a liquid and is there rotatably mounted preferably about its horizontal drum axis and is rotated by a drive. It is characterised in that at least one further reactor for a pretreatment or preliminary fermentation of the substances is provided upstream of the at least one drum reactor serving as the main reactor.
