In the developing device (36) according to the invention for developing a latent image produced on a latent image carrier (24), a cassette-like filling funnel (64) is inserted extractably into a housing (62). The filling funnel (64), which is filled in advance with a developer medium, has an outlet (74) via which the developer medium can be removed when the filling funnel (64) is inserted into the housing (62). The developer medium dispensed via the outlet (74) is transferred to the latent image carrier (24) via a transport roller (80).
