A grab hanging on a rope or the like and having two pulley blocks arranged in parallel between two cross-pieces, the lower of the two cross-pieces consisting of two parts which are releasably connected to one another via a locking device acted upon by pressure medium. The locking device has two rotatably mounted levers (4, 4'). Each of the levers is fastened with one end to a pulley-block rope (3, 3'). With the other end, each of the levers (4, 4') can on the one hand be put against a cross-piece part (7) and on the other hand is connected to a locking arm (11, 11') via a piston/cylinder unit (9, 9') which is inserted in a pressure-medium circuit having at least one valve. The advantage is obtained that energy need only be available for the unlocking operation and not for the locking operation, and that only a short time interval is necessary for the locking operation. <IMAGE>
