A conveyor belt support system can include two idler roller supports/frames (10, 20). When a roller (11, 12, 13) in a first idler roller frame supporting the belt 50 needs changing, the first idler roller frame (10) rotates away from under the belt. The second idler roller frame (20) rotates to a supporting position replacing the first idler roller frame (10). The second idler roller frame (20) can support in the same position as the first idler roller frame vacated, or can support the belt at an adjacent position. The process can be reversed when the second roller idler frame (20) has a roller needing changing. Movement of the idler roller frames can be actuated by a hydraulic, electrical, mechanical or pneumatic actuator (70). One or more hydraulic rams/cylinders or electrical actuators, such as motors, can be used. The actuator (70) can fitted with a transponder which can send/receive signals through a wired connection or a wireless connection. The signals are communicated with a computer system. |
