The invention relates to a combined coupling and braking apparatus with creep speed drive for presses or similar machines. The aim of the invention is to devise a simple, operationally reliable solution to the problem of coupling the creep speed drive to the drive shaft of the press with use of a combined coupling and braking apparatus which is actuated by means of a pressure medium, by means of which solution full nominal force pressure can be reached at creep speed too. This gives rise to the object of forming the coupling and braking apparatus in such a way that, during operation of the creep speed drive, the coupling and brake can be simultaneously opened, thereby implementing direct coupling of the creep speed drive to the drive shaft (1). According to the invention, this is achieved in that another cylinder (15) is arranged inside the coupling and braking apparatus, in which cylinder a piston (16) is mounted which can be acted upon by a pressure medium during operation of the creep speed drive and acts to eliminate the force of pressure on the braking discs (5) independently of the pressure imparted by the coupling piston (12) to the springs (14). <IMAGE>
