A transmission and reception system wherein a local oscillator (L01) of the receiver (RX) is dispensed with by using the output of a transmission oscillator (OSC) modulated by a modulation signal in lieu of a local oscillator (L01) output of the receiver (RX). The modulated component mixed as a result of employing the transmission oscillator (OSC) as a local oscillator is canceled at a second mixer (MIX2) or mixers subsequent thereto as a result of modulation of the output of a second local oscillator (L02) or local oscillators subsequent thereto by said modulation signal level-adjusted and phase-shifted to required values respectively. In addition, by applying the modulated output of the transmission oscillator (OSC) having been rid of the modulated component to the receiver as a local oscillation signal, the local oscillator (L01) for removing the modulated component is dispensed with.
