The invention is a method used when grinding and/or polishing objects and a brush roller intended for such purpose and equipped with a rotatable brush casing (28).To make it possible to use brush material that does not easily tolerate the high temperatures that arise during certain grinding operations, the brush casing comprises individual brush sections, which are fastened next to each other with small spaces in between or passages on a perforated and profiled hub sleeve (22), which is rotatably situated on a fixed body (1), which is also perforated and is connected to a refrigerant source.
