In the case of an apparatus (11) for holding a cladding profile (4) on the edge of a roof (3) of a building, comprising a retaining bracket (12) and an intermediate member (21) connected to the cladding profile (4), the vertical leg (14) of the retaining bracket (2) exhibits parallel webs (16, 17), projecting in the direction of the cladding profile (4), and the intermediate member is designed as a guide carriage (21) engaging therein. Furthermore, two slots (18, 19 and 26, 27 respectively), arranged at a distance one above the other, are in each case made in the webs (16, 17) and in the side walls (24, 25), allocated thereto, of the guide carriage. The slots (18, 19) provided in the webs (16, 17) run approximately perpendicularly to the slots (26, 27) made in the side walls (24, 25). This configuration achieves the effect that the cladding profile (4) can be aligned vertically and with respect to the wall of the building (1) and can be set in its position independently of the retaining bracket (12). <IMAGE>
