Road traffic beacons serve for marking the edge of a roadway changing its direction or width. Usual beacons consist of a heavy foot which supports a vertical rod, on which the beacon plate having the warning symbol is fastened. These beacons are very dangerous because they can seriously damage a vehicle which only brushes past. The beacon according to the invention avoids this disadvantage in that the warning symbols are applied not to a rigid plate but to the elastic outer surface of a rubber or plastic bag which is sealed in an airtight manner and which is tightly filled with a light compressively elastic substance (e.g. air or foam) and which is fastened standing upright on a flat base plate to be anchored at the roadway edge. In order that the beacon is easier to observe in the dark, the bag can consist of light-permeable material and be illuminated from inside by an upwardly radiating light source fastened to the base plate. To increase the standing security, the bag interior can be divided into a number of airtight longitudinal chambers.
|
