The microwave oven can be closed in a microwave-proof manner by means of a hinged oven door. A microwave shield having a radio-frequency inductor which is immersed in the oven muffle is fitted to the inside of the oven door. In this case, there must be a predetermined separation between the edge of the shield and the oven muffle. This is made possible according to the invention in that the microwave shield can be displaced and fixed in three mutually perpendicular directions relative to the oven muffle. <IMAGE>
