METHOD FOR PRETREATING THIN FECAL

During periods of peak loading the collected liquid sewage is mixed with raw or treated waste water and passed through an extended surface biological treatment unit. The mixture is recirculated several times. During periods of low loading the collected sewage is routed to the treatment plant or drainage channel system. Mixing the sewage with waste water serves three purposes:- The extended surface biological treatment unit is provided with a continuous, nearly constant load. Daily variation of the treatment plant load is reduced. During winter excessive cooling of the dilute sewage is prevented.
