An acceleration limit value switch having a spring-loaded inert mass as an operating element for closing an electrical circuit, the spring acting on the operating element and, when accelerations occur, being capable of being pivoted with said operating element as far as a stop, and the operating element either automatically returning to its rest position or having to be moved back to said rest position by hand once the accelerations have disappeared, depending on the arrangement of the stop. Possibilities for application result, for example, in vehicles as a crash sensor for automatically switching on the hazard-warning system, for releasing the central locking or triggering an airbag or belt tensioners.
