The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a pressed nut, in which a cylinder which is provided with at least one outward-facing point or sheet fold (6) but is otherwise essentially circular is formed by connecting the ends (a, b) of a piece of sheet metal, after which a corresponding threaded mandrel (11) is introduced into the sleeve which has been formed and the curved surface of the sleeve is pressed against the threaded mandrel (11) by punches (14, 16, 18, 20). The points make possible equalisation of the change in the circumference. The invention also relates to the corresponding pressed nut itself. The method permits a considerable increase in the rate of manufacture of nuts, e.g. for box clamps. <IMAGE>
