A silver halide color photographic material is disclosed. The material contains a photographic magenta coupler of formula (I) and a phenolic compound of formula (II) within a silver halide emulsion layer: <IMAGE> (I) (wherein R1 and R2 are each an alkyl group or an aryl group; Z is a hydrogen atom or a group that can be eliminated upon coupling reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent); <IMAGE> (II) (wherein R3 is an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group or an amino group; R4 is an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom; s is an integer of 0 to 2, provided that when s is 2, R4 may be the same or different).
