In the case of a storage or transport tank for low-boiling fluids, such as refrigerated liquefied gases, having a load-bearing tank wall consisting of concrete and a metallic lining also serving as a water-vapour diffusion retarder with respect to an inner heat-insulating layer, the lining consists of an aluminium foil with spherical embossing which is adhesively bonded at least at certain points in the surface of the tank wall covered by it, using an adhesive which fails in a defined way under tensile stress in the direction of the plane of the foil and consequently provides the foil with a range of expansion from which cracks occurring in the tank wall are bridged. This is an inexpensive way of achieving the effect that cracks forming in the metallic lining under thermal shock, and in the concrete as a result or for other reasons, can no longer form cracks in the lining and consequently the concrete of the tank is reliably protected against the penetration of cold storage medium.
