A solid state photosensor with a charge coupled device (CCD) element, which has a plurality of photo surfaces and a transport shift register, contains a regulating circuit to regulate the integration time of the photo surfaces to a constant value, chosen in any desired way, independently of the exposure period. The CCD element can have a charging trough between each photo surface and the corresponding section of the transport shift register, and the constant integration time is achieved by allowing charge collection in the charging troughs during each scanning period only after an initial period. The required initial exposure regulating period can be determined by counters.
