The invention relates to a method for binding inner books and booklets. Two continuous sealing threads are fed to the folded sheets using the method according to the invention, the upper of the two sealing threads being inserted into the folded sheet along the inside margin by means of a circulating insertion device which moves synchronously with the sheet guide, and the loops of thread which have been produced as a result being brought down to the lower thread. When contact is made, the energy source which is functionally assigned to the insertion device emits an electromagnetic beam, especially a high- frequency beam, which is directed towards the sealing threads, and a sealing seam is formed by the non-releasable connection formed as a result. Using an energy source which is equivalent to the first energy source, the scrim strips which are applied to the collated inner book backs and comprise sealing threads are non-releasably connected to the sealing seams of the folded sheets by means of the high-frequency beam emitted. As a result of the large positive binding component, a high level of inner book strength and optimum taughtness of the sealing threads are achieved in each folded sheet, which corresponds to the strength characteristics of thread stitching. <IMAGE>
