The optical lens contains an adjustable chamber (10) which contains a fluid optical medium which can be subjected to a different pressure by varying the size of the chamber (10). Elastic optical membrane elements (17) at the ends of the chamber (10) are curved in accordance with the pressure of the fluid medium in the chamber (10) so that an optical lens with an adjustable focal length is produced. The optical lens is particularly suitable for applications requiring large lens dimensions. The lens can be produced very cost-effectively, since any grinding and polishing work is eliminated. <IMAGE>
