The invention relates to a control device for the current which is to be supplied to a DC motor, in the form of square-wave pulses, from a DC source having a low operating voltage. The rotational speed of the motor 4, which is constructed especially as a DC permanent-magnet motor, is determined, via the duty ratio of the current pulses, for this control device. Since, in the event of a low duty ratio, which is set for low rotational speeds, insufficient current is supplied to the motor for starting, it is provided that current having a maximum duty ratio, possibly a continuous current, is supplied to the motor for the duration of starting, without the selected setting of the duty ratio having to be changed for this purpose. <IMAGE>
