The invention relates to a clamping tool, in particular for connecting tubes and other sections, having two clamping jaws which are arranged in a housing, can be moved towards one another by a drive device and enclose the workpiece in their working position, and in which levers are arranged which can be swivelled about pivots firmly connected to the housing and one end of which levers is designed for the engagement of the drive device, while the clamping jaws are pivotably fastened to the other end of the levers, and bolts are arranged on the clamping jaws, which bolts are guided in slotted links which are arranged in the housing and which, as viewed in the opening direction of the clamping jaws, run on a straight line, passing through the centre axis of the workpiece, over a first part of their length and at an angle thereto over the further part of their length. In this way, during short parallel displacement of the clamping jaws, a wide opening for receiving the workpiece is made possible. <IMAGE>
