A non-dusting, dry, microgranular pigment concentrate comprising one or more pigments and/or other additives suitable for use with plastics together with a particular carrier material, is made by mixing the pigments and/or other additives with the carrier in the presence of a waxy material (I) with a slightly polar character and a m.pt. of 50-120 deg. C, at a temp. of above the m.pt. of the (I), and then cooling the mixt. (I) pref. has a m.pt. of 70-100 deg. C and is esp. an ethanediol-, butanediol-, glycerol- and/or pentaerythritol ester of a 16-22C fatty acid or of a 24-36C montanic acid or mixts. of these with non-esterified montanic acid and their Ca salts; or polyethylene glycols with a mol. wt. of ca. 2000. The carrier is pref. a particulate plastics or filler. Pref. the compsn. comprises at least 25 wt.% pigment and/or additives, 10-20 wt.% waxy material (I) and a balance of the carrier. Pref. the mixer used has a cooled mixing arm and/or wall.
