PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled steel sheet superior in magnetic characteristic, by heating a slab before hot rolling process in manufacturing the titled sheet by electrical conduction heating while using the slab itself as resistor, to heat it uniformly and prevent abnormal growth of structure. CONSTITUTION:The continuously cast slab for magnetic steel sheet contg. 0.02-0.12% C, 2.0-4.0% Si is heated to 1,250-1,400 deg.C and hot rolled, the plate is pickled then cold rolled to steel sheet by one cold rolling or >=2 times cold rollings interposing intermediate annealing. In this case, when the slab is heated to 1,250-1,400 deg.C before hot rolling, the slab itself is heated as resistor by electrical conduction. Apparent current density I at the electrical conduction heating is regulated to >=40A/cm<2> and 0.5P<2=100A/cm<2> values. (P is electrode pushing pressure kg/cm<2>). The slab is heated rapidly under a little heat deviation. Thus the abnormal grain growth in structure is suppressed and the titled sheet superior in magnetic characteristic can be manufactured.
