The railway container wagon has a platform which is mounted on main transverse carriers on two bogies, and has a side bearer which is arranged in the cross-sectional profile of the platform and whose head parts which protrude out of the ends of the platform bear the buffers of the wagon and which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the wagon counter to the force of a double-acting long-travel spring with shock absorption. The two head parts of the sliding carrier are connected to one another by means of, for example, two profile rods which extend through openings in the main transverse carriers. In order to able to reduce the inner cross-section of the through-openings and, as a result, to be able to reduce the overall height of the main transverse carriers without decreasing the rigidity for a maximum carrying capacity in the guiding-through area of the profile rods, the longitudinal sections of the profile rods which are displaced by the main transverse carriers in the event of a displacement of the sliding carrier consist of tubes with a preferably round cross-section.
