In a method for the production of formed parts composed, for example, of steel or nonferrous metal in a die, a blank is arranged between die parts, pressure is then exerted on the blank by means of a die part or a punch and the said blank is formed. In order to allow the forming of the blank with a high degree of deformation in a die, at least two punches exert pressure on the blank and, during the action of the punches, the closed die parts are free to move in the direction of motion of the punches.
