For the rapid placement and/or extraction of sections or the like, a driving apparatus is proposed in which a housing 2 can be displaced on a guide rail 1 by means of hydraulic cylinders 3. The housing 2 has a universal section entering guide 5 as well as a clamping device 11 located underneath it. In particular, the clamping device 11 can be fastened under an impact plate 11 which is displaceable in the housing 2 and can be locked in particular in both end positions and in which a hammer 6, 7 is arranged in at least one hollow space 8, 9 in such a way that, during an oscillating movement taking place in the section direction, this hammer 6, 7 strikes the impact plate 10 as a function of the instantaneous position of the latter during the up and down movement. <IMAGE>
