The invention relates to the field of chemistry and especially of pharmaceutical chemistry. The subject of the invention is the N-alkylated derivatives of 2,2-diphenoxyethylamine of general formula I: <IMAGE> in which R represents a lower alkyl radical, in the free or salified form. These compounds are used as active principles in antidepressant pharmaceutical compositions.
