The invention relates to a cervical spatula for cytological sampling. In medicine, it will in particular be used for taking cellular scrapes of mucosa at the neck of the uterus with a view to the detection of diseases such as cancer. The cervical spatula 6 includes a rigid and substantially rectilinear proximal part 7 for manipulating the spatula from outside the body and a distal part 8 intended for sampling the cervical tissues. According to the invention, the distal part 8 includes an elongated end 9 in the extension of the proximal rectilinear part 7, a lug 10 projecting from the base of the elongated end 9, the end 9 and the lug 10 defining an angle " beta " which is near to a right angle. <IMAGE>
